The Divine Life

September 6, 2017

“Family and friends can hurt us deeply but they can never destroy us. Family and friends can meaningfully love us but they can never provide the life we need to love like Jesus. At their best, they stir up the love God’s Spirit has already provided. The divine life lodged in the center of our souls is indestructible and is sufficient to move us along the narrow road to becoming more Christlike.”

Dr. Larry Crabb, A Different Kind of Happiness, Page 113

Questions for Reflection:
• Whose approval feels necessary for you to be at peace? Why?
• Whose rejection or criticism feels unbearable to you? Why?
• Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what you’re losing by making your life dependent on others instead of on what Jesus has provided.
