Loving Others With A Costly Love

May 24, 2017

“First thing happiness, in God’s thinking a better kind of happiness, develops when we struggle to love others with a costly love that is possible only if we have a life-giving relationship with Jesus that is grounded entirely in His love for us. This love lets us rest, not complacently but comfortably, in our ongoing weakness and failure.”

Dr. Larry Crabb, A Different Kind of Happiness, Page 20

Questions for Reflection:
• Is the love you’re offering to others fueled by your relationship with Jesus or by your own efforts to be a loving person?
• As you look at any ways you’ve failed to love well today, are you still resting in Jesus’ unfailing love for you?
• Take some time to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal ways in which you’ve moved away from His life and have carried the burden of life on your own.
• Offer those areas to Him again, and allow Jesus’ love to be your strength and rest.
