The Well-Being Of The Beloved

June 8, 2016

“Love seeks the deepest well-being of another. If that requires suffering, then love permits and, sometimes, brings about suffering. But love never allows more suffering than is necessary to achieve the well-being of the beloved.”

Dr. Larry Crabb, 66 Love Letters, Page 87

Questions for Reflection:
• Can you think of a time when loving someone close to you meant allowing them to suffer without your intervention?
• What happened in your own heart as you watched them suffer?
• If there is some area of unrelenting suffering which you are now facing, ask the Lord to give you a fresh awareness of His heart toward you as you endure these circumstances that you long to have changed.
