The Relationship Is Never At Stake

September 30, 2015

“Something is different about people who love. They convey a presence that goes beyond the words they say, the things they do. We know they are for us. In their presence, our growth seems more appealing to us than required of us. Because the relationship is never at stake, we sense a freedom to enter fully into the enjoyment of relationship rather than to keep the relationship intact.”

Dr. Larry Crabb, Understanding People, Page 222

Questions for Reflection:
• Do you typically offer people a presence that enjoys them or a demand for them to change?
• When you think of God, is your response to Him generally one of resting in His love and desiring to grow or a sense of pressure to fulfill requirements because of what He’s done for you?
• Ask the Holy Spirit today to uncover any false pictures of God that drive your relationship with Him and interfere with the way you reveal Him to others.
• Take time to thank Him for the constancy of His love and acceptance secured in Christ.
