What Story Should We Tell With Our Lives?

March 13, 2013

“The simple truth is, life is hard. It never will be as good as we want it to be, and it will inevitably become painfully difficult for everyone before it’s over.

“So the question is, how then should we live? What story should we tell with our lives? To achieve what? My life is telling a story. Your life is telling a story. If there is a good story to tell, one that gives me solid hope through bad times that good times lie ahead, and one that releases me to live with joy and purpose now, I want to know it and live it.”

Question for Reflection:
What story are you telling with your life?

I often reflect on all I have read over the years from Larry. I have many times just wanted to throw my arms around him and express my gratitude. I think the story I am telling with my life has been deeply and sustainably affected by Larry’s ‘letters’. Paul says “Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some, letters of commendation to you or from you? You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men.” (2 Corinthians 3:1-2; NASB95).

For me, my life story has Larry’s letters written in my heart. I know they are from Jesus to him and that Jesus chose Larry to be a vessel for these wonderful words of life written over his life time. And they live on in me and many others I am sure. But they really have had a profound effect on me – they really have been written in my heart and my life story goes on with those letters, to be read by all people I come in contact with.

Thank Jesus and Larry for the life I have received.
    love Sheryl
