Under Pressure to Make Life Work?

February 20, 2013

“…Either we’re under pressure to do something right so life will work, or we’re living for the Better Hope of knowing Christ. A spirit of arrogance energizes the first way–we think we can do enough right things to deserve good things to happen. Humility characterizes the second–it’s all about Christ; He has done what we could never do.”

Dr. Larry Crabb, The Pressure’s Off, Page 100

Questions for Reflection:
Whether you’re traveling on the path of the first way or second, what is the passion that fuels your movement along that path?
How would your life look if your ruling passion was to know God, enjoy Him and be like Him?

  1. One of all my all time favorite books!

Our Passion should be Jesus! A lot of times it’s the pressure to work harder to get through our day/ reach our goals.
If our passion was all about knowing God, we would be much less concerned about many other things that don’t matter into eternity. We would be a lot more holy as opposed to trying to be happy all the time.
